Our company currently has 30 pumps, and their mechanical seals keep leaking. Upon inspection, there are no problems with the rotating and stationary rings or the O-rings; reassembling them resolves the issue. The mechanical seals in question are of type 108-35. During maintenance, it was found that material crystals form on the seals when the pump stops running. Experts, should insulation be added to the pump cover, or should a modular double-end face seal be used?
Double-end face mechanical seals are better for material crystallization; this should have been taken into consideration when selecting and supplying the equipment.
