What is the reason for water spraying from the exhaust port of a water ring vacuum pump? Could someone with more experience give some advice?
The exhaust port of a water ring vacuum pump is used for both exhausting gas and liquid; this is normal. During operation, as the process gas is drawn out, some of the working fluid is carried away as well. If this is not desired, a gas-liquid separator needs to be installed

Excessively high drainage level, water in the pipes, and reverse rotation of the impeller can all be possible causes
The configuration of this pump is highly unreasonable; the separation tank should be at the same level as the pump body. Place a separation tank above the outlet; water will definitely spray out when it is opened. You can find out by looking up the principle of the water ring pump. That tube must be a balance tube.
The thin tube is a cavitation protection tube that prevents cavitation under high-vacuum conditions, thus protecting the vacuum pump. Under normal circumstances, if no water-steam separator is used, water will spray out when the pump is started; this is because a water ring is formed at the beginning of operation, and some water must be expelled. No water spraying should occur during normal operation. Additionally, it is necessary to check whether the level of the working fluid is within the required range, as it might be too high
