On the side of the closed impeller seal, there is a ring – could someone explain what exactly the function of this ring is? It’s not the mouth ring at the suction inlet end
The mouth ring and balance holes on the impeller are used to balance the axial force; since the areas of the front and rear cover plates of the impeller are different, with the rear area being larger than the front one, an axial force directed forward is generated during the operation of the pump
It is also used in conjunction with an oral ring to balance axial forces.
The back ring reduces the back pressure area, thereby decreasing the axial force.

The back ring can reduce axial force, lower the pressure in the sealing chamber, and minimize volume loss!
