1. As the title suggests, what is the status of the inlet and outlet valves of the standby pump for a centrifugal pump under normal conditions?
The inlet valve is closed to prevent media that are prone to crystallization or scaling from entering the pump chamber and causing the pump to cease functioning in standby mode; The outlet valve is closed to prevent backflow of the medium in the parallel pipeline from causing damage to the overcurrent components of the standby pump and other parts.
This needs to be set according to production requirements. Make full use of the overall setup, such as check valves and electric valves. As long as it does not affect production, it can be put into use in the shortest possible time.

Different pumps have different backup methods depending on operating conditions; for example, in the case of high temperatures, a warm pump circuit needs to be considered. Whether it is high pressure, consider the outlet and return. It matters whether to consider chain self-starting, etc.

Put it this way: for most centrifugal pumps in our installations, the backup pump has its inlet valve fully open and its outlet valve fully closed. When it is necessary to shut down the pump, the outlet valve is opened on-site; this should be the standard procedure for conventional centrifugal pumps, with special cases being treated separately.
In accordance with the operating procedures for centrifugal pumps, the outlet valve should be closed to prevent backflow of material due to a failure of the outlet check valve. If the pump is not operated for an extended period, the inlet valve shall be closed
