In what situations are open, semi-closed, and fully enclosed impellers used respectively? The impellers of multi-stage centrifugal pumps are all fully enclosed. Is this related to the medium? For example: Is it liquefied gas, pumice, or other volatile media? Is it true that sealed impellers are generally used for such materials?
The impeller design is related to the medium. Open impellers are mainly used for transporting fluids with a high amount of suspended solids, and their efficiency is relatively low.
