Dear experts, when conducting weld evaluation for pumps in accordance with API 610, is it necessary to follow the standards of API RP 582? I couldn’t find any reference to API RP 582 in the API 610 standard; can it be assumed that there is no need to comply with API RP 582? Thank you for the guidance!

It’s impossible for it to have no basis; API610 is not a standard that exists in isolation, as it references numerous API/ISO standards
I conducted the weld evaluation in accordance with ASME IX; my concern now is whether API RP 582 needs to be taken into account during the weld evaluation This affects the thickness assessment of the duplex steel base metal.
You are right; API 610 does reference many standards, but I didn’t find API RP 582 among them. Does this mean that it’s not necessary to comply with the requirements of API RP 582?

API582 is not mentioned in API610, but this does not mean that it is not referenced in the standards cited by API610, or in the standards that are cited by those standards
API 582 consolidates all API-related requirements for welding/post-weld heat treatment into one standard (RP). Basically, once you have looked at API 582, there is no need to consult the requirements regarding welding/post-weld heat treatment in other API standards. Whether to implement API 582 depends entirely on the agreement between the customer and the manufacturer, as API 582 is not a standard but rather a recommended practice. However, conducting welding procedure qualification in accordance with API 582 and preparing a WPS can be applied to the welding of the vast majority of products, thereby minimizing the need for repeated qualification.
