The pumps in chemical processing units are generally installed side by side; why can’t they be installed facing each other?
1. Facilitates the rational layout of pipelines, saving space and reducing the amount of main pipelines required； 2. If they are placed opposite to each other, the channel between the two pumps is affected by the inlet pipeline, making inspection and maintenance difficult. 3. For the same floor area, rectangular buildings have more reasonable load distribution on their load-bearing beams compared to square buildings.
You can try to arrange it first, then handle the piping, conduct stress analysis, and make a comparison to see which configuration requires fewer pipes, has reasonable stress levels, and is easier to operate and maintain. Comparison leads to a deeper understanding.
Due to the limitations of the site area, it’s sometimes not possible to arrange everything; this is the only option available.
It is mainly for ease of operation, inspection, and installation.
