According to Windpower Monthly, a leading global wind energy publication, 16.6-megawatt \"twin-turbine\" offshore wind turbines are set to be introduced in Chinese waters. This model was designed by the German company Nezzy? A 1:10 scale prototype has undergone testing and validation in northern Germany for over two years. MingYang Smart is Nezzy?’s technical partner and licensee in China. Zhang Qiying, President and Chief Technology Officer of MingYang Smart Energy, said that the detailed engineering design for the full-scale prototype of this \"dual-turbine\" model has been completed. It will utilize two medium-speed three-blade MySE8.3-180 offshore wind turbines, with an impeller diameter of 180 meters, and will operate in a headwind mode. The first prototype will be installed at a testing site off the coast of southern China at a water depth of 40 meters. The installation is expected to take place by the end of this year or early next year.
