According to Sinochem New Network, recently, Nigeria’s Dangote Petroleum Refining and Petrochemical Company announced that it has chosen Honeywell (USA) as its partner to build a second production line. Honeywell provides advanced technology, services, proprietary catalysts, and equipment for this project, with the aim of doubling its refining capacity by 2028. Reports say that by adopting Honeywell’s refining and petrochemical process technologies, production costs will be reduced, efficiency will increase, and output will rise, allowing daily production to increase from 650,000 barrels to 1.4 million barrels. This move will make the Dangote Refinery the largest single-refinery in the world. The Dangote Refinery will obtain a license for Honeywell UOP’s Oleflex technology to use in the catalytic dehydrogenation of propane; this will enable it to produce 750,000 tons of propylene per year, thereby raising the annual total production of polypropylene – the main raw material for plastic products – to 2.4 million tons. Furthermore, regarding the construction of the second production line, the Dangote Group and the Indian Engineering Company (EIL) signed a memorandum of understanding in Mumbai, India. As a partner of the Project Management Consultant (PMC) and the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management Consultant (EPMC), EIL is involved in this refinery expansion project, while also contributing to the expansion of Dangote Group’s fertilizer plant, a project that is carried out simultaneously with the refinery expansion. The first production line at the Dangote Refinery has a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, while the second production line is expected to have a capacity of around 750,000 barrels per day. The gasoline, diesel, aviation kerosene, and polypropylene produced by this refinery all meet the Euro 5 emission standards.
