Recently, at the site of the project focused on the development and application of key technologies for producing green fuels through biomass gasification coupled with green hydrogen production, located in the Petrochemical Industrial Park in the southern part of Xifeng Industrial Park, workers were carrying out tasks such as geological surveys and rebar binding in an organized manner, ensuring that the project progresses according to the planned schedule. This project is a key initiative for green energy transformation under Gansu Province’s 14th Five-Year Plan. It was invested in and constructed by the Xifeng branch of Longyuan (Huanxian) New Energy Co., Ltd., with a total investment of 196.1 million yuan; construction officially began in November 2025. The project will involve the construction of hydrogen production facilities using alkaline electrolysis with a capacity of 1,000 Nm³/h. It will also include biomass gasification units, green fuel synthesis systems, as well as methanol synthesis and green aviation fuel production facilities along with related auxiliary systems. Ultimately, this will create a closed-loop industrial chain that integrates wind, solar, and hydroelectric power, green hydrogen, biomass, and green chemical manufacturing. Currently, the steel reinforcement binding and formwork support for the foundation columns of the plant fence are in progress, with concrete pouring to follow. To overcome the challenges associated with construction in winter, companies develop specialized contingency plans in advance, establishing a solid safety barrier by optimizing construction procedures, ensuring adequate provision of personal protective equipment, and having sufficient emergency supplies on hand ; Building materials are stored in covered areas; heating is applied during the concrete mixing process, and insulating shelters are erected at the work sites to raise the ambient temperature. At the same time, fire sources on site are strictly controlled, special antifreeze is used for equipment, concrete is given a longer curing period, and insulation is applied promptly after wall construction, all to ensure that construction quality is not affected by low temperatures. It is understood that the project is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2026; once operational, it is expected to produce 2,000 tons of green methanol and 60 tons of other green fuels per year. “Once the project is in full operation, it will not only effectively promote the development of related industries such as biomass collection and storage sowie hydrogen energy equipment manufacturing, but it will also enable the processing of 4,000 tons of agricultural and forestry waste each year, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions and providing strong impetus for the local area to achieve its ‘dual carbon’ goals. ”Ye Yongqiang said. The construction boom in the cold winter doesn’t stop there. Key projects such as Gansu Runqing Fine Chemicals, Qingyang Tongxin’s annual production capacity of 500,000 tons in light hydrocarbon processing, and the section of Highway G244 that passes through Qingyang have also overcome the challenges posed by low temperatures and made steady progress in their construction.
