Recently, the key milestone of transitioning from civil construction to installation work for the asphalt and heavy oil storage facility at Maoming Port in Guangdong, undertaken by China National Nuclear Fifth Corporation, was successfully achieved. This marks the official shift in the project’s development phase from the main civil construction stage to the stage of tank welding and equipment installation. The pouring of the tank foundation is the basis for carrying out the installation and welding of the tank, and it also serves as an important barrier to prevent corrosion and leakage in the tank. The project team organized a professional team to conduct a 100% airtightness test on the installation of the anti-seepage membrane around the tank cluster, and monitored various technical parameters such as foundation load and settlement in real time. All relevant data met the **regulatory and design requirements, thus completing the pouring of the tank foundations successfully. The 4 new 5,000-cubic-meter storage tanks, pump houses, and loading skids constructed as part of the Guangdong Maoming Port asphalt and heavy oil storage facility serve as the key elements for storing and transferring asphalt and heavy oil, as well as for delivering them in precise quantities to end-users. Once completed, this facility will establish a transportation route for heavy oil and asphalt that connects the port, storage areas, and end-users, thereby significantly enhancing the region’s capacity to supply chemical raw materials. It will also improve the industrial layout in the western part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, contributing to the high-quality development of the local economy.
