Is PFD a kind of intention, such as determining how many operational parameters need to be achieved here, while PID is the actual implementation that turns all those intentions into reality?
PID is a Process Piping and Instrumentation Diagram, which shows all the pipelines and instruments at the plant site on the diagram. A PFD is a process flow diagram that shows only the important processes and instruments, as well as key operating parameters and heat exchanger loads. Or simply put, PID is a more detailed version of PFD, along with drawings of start-up and shutdown pipelines, etc
