What tasks do the metrology departments carry out?

May I ask what specific tasks the metrology departments of all of you are responsible for? Is it the responsibility of those in charge of the on-site flow meters and similar equipment to maintain them? What are its specific responsibilities?
It depends on how the management decides and defines it; if it’s a part-time role related to instrumentation, then it involves handling various tasks. A purely measurement-related department, on the other hand, is responsible for managing the use of measuring instruments within the factory as well as ensuring compliance with relevant system requirements.
The main responsibility of the metrology department is to ensure the traceability of the values of measuring instruments (by carrying out inspections or calibrations of such instruments). As for whether repairs are carried out, it depends on the responsibilities assigned within each company; some companies handle repairs while others do not...
It’s probably about calibrating the instruments. Maintenance might be involved, but it doesn’t seem like maintenance work is required
Let’s take a look at the company’s internal organizational structure and departmental responsibilities. In my previous company’s Measurement Management Department, I was responsible for the maintenance of field instruments, technical upgrades and renovations, standard establishment, value transfer, sending measurement devices for inspection, maintaining a database of all instruments in the company, carrying out periodic calibration checks, tracking, configuring, and managing energy measurement devices, as well as maintaining and managing the computer systems across the factory. Everything in the entire company that is related to measurement, instruments, or networks falls under the responsibility of the Measurement Center.
