Regarding lower reflux adjustment

During the air separation gas flow adjustment process, the lower reflux valve is gradually opened, resulting in an increase in the amount of gas flowing back downward. At the same time, the volume of gas entering the tower also increases. What I would like to ask is: where is this valve installed within the condensation evaporator? Why can the condensation amount be adjusted?
Or rather, since the amount of condensation is constant (with constant pressures in the upper and lower columns), does the reflux from the lower column merely adjust the flow rate of liquid nitrogen flowing back to that column?
This valve is located on the liquid nitrogen outlet pipeline on the main cooling nitrogen side; it removes liquid nitrogen from that side and thereby changes the heat transfer area of the main cooler
