Dear colleagues: As part of this month’s Safety Month activities, our company has decided to conduct a reevaluation of the inherent safety in one of our workshops. We’re really not sure how to proceed with this task. Do any of you have any good ideas or approaches? We would greatly appreciate it if you could offer your suggestions.

There is absolutely no such concept as intrinsically safe.
Intrinsic safety, as I understand it, refers to the safe state of a device. Complete definition: Intrinsic safety refers to the property of production equipment or systems, achieved through design and other means, to be safe in themselves, such that accidents do not occur even in the event of misoperation or failures. This specifically includes error-safety (mistakes do not lead to accidents or such mistakes are automatically prevented) and fault-safety functions (the equipment or process can continue to function properly temporarily or automatically switch to a safe state in the event of a failure). In fact, it refers to the degree of control over known risk factors that has been achieved throughout the design, manufacturing, and installation processes
Intrinsic safety strategies: 1. Minimization – keep the storage of hazardous materials and their quantities within process systems as low as possible, so that any problems that arise can have milder consequences. 2. Substitution – use non-toxic and non-flammable materials in place of toxic and flammable ones. 3. Mildness – ensure that the conditions under which reactions take place are not too intense. 4. Simplification – make the process less prone to errors
