Is it because the gas consumption is too high that a speed booster is needed?

Check whether the positioning rod of the locator is loose, whether the valve stem of the control valve is in contact with anything, and whether the outputs from the positive and negative sides of the locator are consistent..........
Check whether the feedback rod is loose, whether the packing is too tight, etc. There should be sensitivity adjustments available in the locator; try adjusting the locator again. Additionally, the original poster could provide more details regarding the large backlash issue

Disconnect the positioner from the control valve and determine whether the problem lies with the positioner or the actuator; The main reasons for the deterioration caused by control valves are the valve stem and packing. The main reason for the degradation caused by positioners lies in assembly (including the internal assembly of mechanical positioners). In addition, when checking for deterioration of the control valve (including stroke), it should be done away from the starting point of valve opening, based on the inspection at that starting point.
