When selecting a sealing fluid, the following factors should generally be taken into consideration: 1. Compatibility with the sealing medium, as well as compatibility with the mechanical seal itself (such as O-rings)； 2. Cavitation performance: As temperature and pressure increase, the solubility of certain isolation fluids for gases also increases, making cavitation more likely to occur ； 3. For ordinary aqueous fluids, mixtures of water with ethylene glycol or propylene glycol generally meet the requirements; however, antifreeze additives cannot be used as they will form gels on the sealing surfaces, thereby affecting the sealing performance ； 4. Of course, the isolation fluid must not freeze at the lowest ambient temperatures, and it must remain stable, without generating or releasing any toxic gases that could pose safety risks ； 5. If the sealed medium contains dissolved oxygen, then the flash point of the isolation fluid should be at least 50°C higher than the initial boiling point of the ambient temperature ； 6. Additionally, commercial turbine oils contain anti-wear agents and antioxidants, which can accumulate on the sealing surfaces; therefore, their use is not recommended.
