For 1.3MPa steam, what pressure rating should the globe valve have? Is 1.6 MPa okay?
It seems that choosing 2.5 MPa is safer.
For general steam systems, PN2.5 is usually chosen; 1.6 is a bit too low.
Did you calculate it using 1.3×1.2=1.6MPa? Hehe, the pressure level should be set higher; at least 2.5 or above
For steam at 1.3 MPaG, the saturation temperature is 195 degrees; in actual use it will likely be superheated a bit more, so it’s better to set it at 200 degrees first. At high temperatures, the allowable pressure of materials decreases; it cannot be determined simply by considering the operating pressure of the medium. According to HG/T20592: For PN16 flanges made of 20# material, the maximum allowable operating pressure at operating temperature is 12.6 barg ; If it is a PN16, S30408 flange, the maximum allowable operating pressure at operating temperature is 10.2 barg; clearly, PN16 flanges made of either material will not work in this case. For PN25, 20# flanges, the maximum allowable operating pressure at operating temperature is 19.7 barg ; Flanges of PN25 and S30408 can be used, as the maximum allowable operating pressure at operating temperature is 16.0 barg. In summary, PN25 flanges and valves must be used.

I agree with what was said on floor 5; a comprehensive consideration of factors such as material, temperature, and pressure is necessary. Generally, the lower the temperature, the lower the allowable stress for a given material. Therefore, it is recommended to use 2.5 MPa
It is better to choose a valve with a pressure rating of 2.5 Mpa
