The facility has a 15T boiler, and a differential pressure flow meter is installed on the main steam outlet pipe. The pipeline leads to a steam distribution cylinder, which has two steam outlets; there is also another steam supply coming from a boiler elsewhere. At present, the flow rate indicated by this steam flow meter fluctuates slowly, ranging from a few tons or even 0 tons up to 15 tons, over a period of about 10 minutes. After that, it starts to fluctuate back down from around 15 tons to a few tons again. What could be the reason for this? I’m asking the experts for help; the pressure transfer tube shouldn’t be blocked anymore – it was blown out with steam, and the differential transmitter is also new
How far is the flow meter from the steam distribution cylinder? Do the fluctuations occur during the shutdown and restart phases of the boiler? Will it keep fluctuating?
The pipeline runs horizontally first and then downward into the steam distribution cylinder; the straight section of the pipeline is 10D in length followed by another 5D. The recent fluctuations occur during normal boiler operation, and considering the boiler’s water supply volume and pressure, these conditions remain relatively stable
If you’re concerned that it’s a problem with the instrument, you can use a multimeter to check the output signal; if there are fluctuations as well, it might be an issue with the instrument itself or the transducer. If there are no such problems, it could be a issue with the display instrument or the system’s channels, or some other problem
