A secondary reciprocating compressor developed problems after major repairs; its capacity decreased slightly, which affected the process product. A preliminary guess is that localized gas compression back and forth inside caused the process gas to break down. Based on this incident, could everyone give examples of which components failing could cause the above situation? Here’s my initial guess: 1. The piston – if it’s not installed properly, some gas will flow back through the gaps. 2. The piston rings are not installed correctly, which results in poor sealing. 3. Some of the valves do not function properly. Since the machine hasn’t been disassembled yet, I hope everyone can provide explanations along with their opinions. I have a degree in engineering but am no expert in mechanics; thanks!

There were no obvious abnormalities in temperature; your comment just reminded me of that. If the first and second stage valves are not good, the temperature of this portion of gas does not rise much; after all, the pressure at the first stage is not high, so the work done should also be limited, and there is a cooler at the inlet of the second stage. Back-and-forth suction causes the gas bonds to break apart... I wonder if my imagination is running too wild?
Maybe the dead zone is too large. . . .
1. Measure the temperature of the valve end cover and compare them to determine which valve is leaking. 2. The compressor’s capacity decreases, possibly due to poor sealing by the seal ring.
It’s possible that the clearance has increased; furthermore, there may be leaks in the intake and exhaust valves, or leaks in the gas seal
Whether the piston ring positions and openings are installed correctly, whether there is valve leakage, and whether there is leakage at the valves.
There is another parameter that affects the air volume: the piston end clearance.
