The methanol catalyst used in my company has been in use for less than a year; the catalysts from several different manufacturers have given similar results, and the specific factors affecting this are unknown! It is understood that similar situations exist among some domestic manufacturers as well; some of them increase the amount of catalyst used in order to extend its service life. Although this approach yields some results, it increases production costs and does not resolve the underlying problem. I wonder if there are any other friends who produce methanol in similar situations; what’s your experience like?
The typical service life of a catalyst is 3 years, so there should be no problem. With proper control, it can last for over 4 years. I don’t know what catalyst you’re using

It must be a problem with the indicators and operations! The catalysts themselves, when operating under normal load, last for about three years!
Generally it’s three years, with a maximum of 5 years in our case.

We use Topsoe’s process equipment; the catalysts used in the early stages were from Topsoe, but later domestic catalysts were adopted. However, these catalysts have been changed several times, with each replacement lasting no more than 1 year. The reactor is from Topsoe; how much catalyst is loaded? What is the actual airspeed? Theoretically, there are four main categories of reasons for catalyst deactivation. Check the operation records to see if there were any instances of excessive temperature or unexpected shutdowns that led to carbon deposition/toxification of the catalyst. The most likely coal types are prone to poisoning or causing the sintering catalyst to overheat during operation; catalyst samples can be taken for analysis when shutting down the system.
