I. Causes of falls from heights: There are two ways in which workers performing tasks at heights can fall. One is when the cause of the fall is not due to instability of the structure, but rather an imbalance in the worker’s own body, which is referred to as a direct fall from height. The other case is when the structure deforms, shifts, or is struck, resulting in an imbalance that leads to a fall. 1. The reasons for direct falls from height include: (1) lack of concentration while working at height, or joking, chasing, and playing around. (5) Falling due to losing balance while grasping objects with bare hands instead of using a tool bag during work at heights. (6) Failing to wear a safety belt when working at heights. 2. Indirect causes of falls from height: (1) Lack of railings at the working height. (2) Too many items are placed on the channel. (3) Improper operation by the operator. (4) The scaffolding is not erected in accordance with regulations, and the ladders are not placed stably. (5) There are no fall prevention measures for working on light roofs. II. Safety precautions for work at heights 1. Install railings or covers at the edges and around holes in areas where work is carried out at heights. 2. The scaffolding shall be erected in accordance with regulatory requirements, and regular inspections and maintenance shall be carried out; its stability shall be checked before use. 3. Workers working at heights should wear light clothing and soft-soled shoes. 4. Persons suffering from mental illness, epilepsy, high blood pressure, heart disease, or those who are under the influence of alcohol or in a lethargic state are strictly prohibited from working at heights. 5. Work sites at heights must have safe access routes; these routes should not be cluttered with too many items, and trash and waste must be removed promptly. 6. When working at heights of 1.5 meters or more above the ground, it is necessary to wear a safety belt, which should be attached to a secure and sturdy point above, at a height not lower than the waist. 7. In case of winds of force 6 or above and severe weather, Xiao Chang also believes that high-altitude work should be stopped. 8. When working on roofs with light or simple structures, wooden planks should be laid to distribute stress and prevent the roof from being damaged by weight. 9. It is strictly prohibited for people to go up and down together with the lifted load; climbing is not allowed until the load is securely placed. 10. It is strictly prohibited to hold objects while walking or climbing at heights. 11. When working vertically, a differential protector and a vertical self-locking safety rope must be used. 12. Clean the workpieces and miscellaneous items on the scaffolding in a timely manner. III.
