Generally, the amount of spare parts required is determined based on the list of instruments provided by the supplier of the equipment. Spares are allocated for startup use and for a 2-year period; usually, one spare part of each type is sufficient for startup use, while the number of spare parts for the 2-year period can be increased as appropriate
If we were given a detailed compressor PID to use for selecting spare parts on our own, then what would we use as a basis for making those choices?
It’s necessary to check what’s included in the PID. Generally, for compressors, common transmitters include those for temperature, pressure, speed, and vibration. Usually, one spare of each type is sufficient for regular operation, while 4-5 spares of each type may be needed for a 2-year period; if special specifications are required, separate spares will be necessary
It’s okay to have more ordinary instruments, while there can be relatively fewer instruments for the shafting system
Chain instruments require spares, as do other items such as panel lights, buttons, shaft monitoring instruments, and especially digital display meters

The sensors themselves usually use standard components, but many seals are required for their installation; since the structures vary, the types of seals also differ. Therefore, it is essential to pay attention to the seals used for installing these sensors when procuring spare parts.
