What kind of day counts as a day at work?

For many people who work from 9 to 5, spending a day at the office doing work-related tasks is what they consider to be working a day. I don’t know how many people still think this way; it can only be said that such an understanding is rather absurd. In my view, the so-called day of work can be examined from the following perspectives—1. Do you even know what a work plan is? To put it plainly, only by completing the daily work tasks to the required standard in terms of both quality and quantity can one be said to have finished the day’s work. There are at least two benefits to creating a work plan: first, it helps you know what needs to be done on a given day, preventing you from being disturbed or distracted by trivial matters ； Secondly, there is the \"pressure\" of having a work plan, which may prompt you to arrange your day in a deliberate manner – otherwise, talking with a user about their needs might turn into casual chatter, and that too counts as part of the day ； Otherwise, trying to build a relationship with a client, only for the conversation to drift away from work matters – that’s also a day wasted. 2. Some people think that it’s already great to not engage in private conversations at work, not trade stocks, and not sneak away to do their own things; they feel that by doing so, without openly challenging the company’s rules, they are already good employees. The question is, have you ever thought about why the company has rules stating that certain things are not allowed? Isn’t it because many people find it difficult to complete their daily work with both quality and quantity ensured? The requirements set by the company are, in fact, the basic qualities that a \"professional\" should possess. Yet the need to emphasize such requirements repeatedly stems from a sense of helplessness, as if one is frustrated that the people involved don’t meet these standards. This sense of helplessness is somewhat similar to when parents, seeing that there was no hope of improving our academic performance, could only regulate our behavior – forbidding us from playing truant, fighting, gambling, stealing, and so on. 3. Some might say that according to what was said above, it might sometimes be impossible to complete the daily workload within regular working hours; if one has to work overtime and bring work into personal life, then how can work and life be balanced? In my view, the idea that work and life need to be deliberately balanced is simply a false premise. Many people around me disagree with this view, but I still hold my opinion: work is part of life; it has never been on opposite sides of life. It is often our preconceptions or one-sided views that place it against life, and that’s one reason ； Secondly, when it is said that work affects one’s life, it is usually because that job fails to integrate into one’s life; in other words, one has chosen an unsuitable job, just as one might choose a partner with whom it is impossible to get along. ……I have always believed that every task should have a consistent standard for evaluation, and that standard is the outcome – that is, how many tasks you have completed by the end of the day, and they must be valuable tasks. A senior at my previous workplace also shared a similar experience with me; I remember it was not long after I graduated, and I had no plan at all for my work – I did whatever came to mind, without thinking about whether it was useful or not by the end of the day! Some time has passed, and I still haven’t made any progress! But by making a plan, efficiency improved significantly, and I noticed that my logical thinking skills also improved; basically, by the time I got up in the morning and started getting ready, I already had planned out what I would do and what results I wanted to achieve! Hehe, it’s efficient and effective; the boss is happy to see it, and as for the financial prospects, there’s no need to say anything!
