As the title suggests, what is the specific function of the permanent light in a heating furnace? I have doubts, Master. Thank you!
This post was last edited by ylb913 on 2015-8-14 at 10:07. I have always believed that the purpose of an eternal flame is to reduce the likelihood of the furnace or burner going out. It’s to avoid stalling caused by those small fluctuations.
The gas volume is easy to control when igniting or heating up
Without any engineering experience, it’s hard to understand.
Ignition is facilitated by using a pilot light; it’s easy to light the main burner with one. During the initial heating phase of the apparatus, using a pilot light helps to control the temperature. The same applies when the furnace starts to burn out. Additionally, if there is a malfunction in the gas system within the apparatus, or if the main gas valve is closed due to improper operation, the main burner will go out, but the pilot light can continue to burn, preventing gas from entering the furnace and causing an explosion
The pilot light is a safety mechanism of the furnace; when the high-wattage burner goes out, it can promptly ignite the high-wattage burner to prevent explosions
The main purpose of the permanent light is to ensure safety, by preventing the accumulation of combustible gases in the furnace due to certain factors, which could lead to an explosion during ignition. So, a perpetual flame must be lit to burn off the uncontrollable combustion gases.
