Tankers used for transferring products must have their tanks cleaned. Firstly, this is to prevent issues related to the quality of the different products stored; Secondly, it is to avoid flash fires or explosions. For example, a tanker that has held gasoline and is used to store oils with lower volatility without being cleaned first is prone to flash fires. Does anyone know what the principle behind this is?
