If producing hydrogen from coal, it is best to use a fluidized-bed gasifier; both water-coal slurry gasification and pulverized coal gasification are viable options. Pressurized coal gasification (i.e., the Ruhr process) should definitely not be chosen. Fluidized-bed gasification represents a more advanced technology, and it also requires less stringent treatment of wastewater.
To determine the specific type of furnace to use, it is necessary to consider the quality of the coal; the furnace should be chosen appropriately based on that coal quality
Our facility uses water-wall gasification furnaces, with each furnace consuming around 1,500 tons of coal per day~! Gas production capacity: 300,000 cubic meters. I can only say that pressurized fluidized bed combustion using pulverized coal is the mainstream in recent years; slurry coal firing was more common in previous years. Pressurized pulverized coal technologies such as those used by Shell and Aerospace, as well as GSP, are all quite good

From the perspective of hydrogen production, coal slurry gasifiers are superior to pulverized coal gasifiers. If there are no restrictions on the type of coal used and coal can be sourced externally, it is recommended to use coal slurry gasifiers, as they offer better investment costs and lower energy consumption compared to pulverized coal gasifiers.
