In the series-parallel coupled towers, the proportionality coefficient for the fresh gas supplied to the inlets of the two towers is higher in the initial stage; in other words, more fresh gas is supplied to the two towers. Should more fresh gas be supplied to one of the towers in the later stages?
Unless controlled deliberately by valves, it is generally uniform in theory; actual differences vary depending on the production capacity of each tower
The design used for synthesis in our company by David is likely the same as what you mentioned. My personal suggestion is that, for each operation, adjustments should be made based on the reaction conditions in both towers – such as changes in the gas composition at the inlet and outlet, the production volume of each tower, the bed temperature, etc. If the catalyst is approaching the end of its useful life, consideration should also be given to the amount of by-products produced in each tower; there should be no fixed value to which these adjustments must adhere. (Our current ratio is around 1.1~1.15:1, which also differs significantly from the value specified by the design institute.)
This ratio is designed to ensure that the components of the syngas are roughly similar, right? It is a common practice to increase the intensity of the tower with lower output in the later stages of series-parallel operation.
