It is now known the kilomole rate of a certain component in the mixed feed to a distillation column, expressed in kgmol/h. The average molecular weight of this mixed component is assumed to be A, and the total flow rate is assumed to be B Kg/h. How can one calculate the mole percentage and mass percentage of this component? Is it easy to calculate? I would appreciate some guidance
In any case, you need to know what’s contained inside – it’s a mixture of two substances. Once you know the average molecular weight, you can calculate the proportion of each substance; it shouldn’t be possible to do this for three or more substances. In fact, the average molecular weight is calculated based on the composition, rather than determining the composition from the average molecular weight.
The millimolar flow rate of each material individually is known, and the molecular weight is also known; can it be calculated?

You now have the molar flow rates of each component; by adding these values together and using that sum as the denominator, you can calculate the molar percentage for each component. Multiplying the molar flow rate by each component’s molecular weight gives the mass flow rate for that component, and by adding up all these values, you obtain the total mass flow rate, with the unit being kg/h. Dividing gives the weight percentage of each.
After mixing evenly, and knowing the molecular weight of the specific substance, which is assumed to be X, as well as its molar flow rate of C kmol/h, the mass percentage of that substance is X*C/B.
