On Siemens PLCs, only Siemens-specific MMC cards must be used; generic MMC cards used in digital products such as digital cameras, mobile phones, or PDAs cannot be used. That’s a sentence from the official documentation, so there’s basically no way about it. A company as large as Siemens – if it allows such vulnerabilities to be exploited by users at will, it’s better for it to close down right away.
