As people’s living standards continue to improve, swimming has become a sport for relieving work stress as well as a form of entertainment in daily life. For a public place like a swimming pool, water quality treatment is of particular importance. It is also crucial to follow the proper procedures for treating pool water; any carelessness or mistake in these steps can significantly reduce the effectiveness of the treatment. The pool water treatment process is generally divided into four stages: First, sedimentation: this involves causing the impurities in the water to coagulate and settle. Follow the instructions for using polyaluminum chloride; fully dilute the chemical before spreading it evenly over the surface of the pool. II. Suction of dirt: Add a coagulant, and it is best to run the circulation system for half an hour. When flocculent precipitates form in the water, it should be left to stand for two hours, after which the precipitate is removed using suction equipment. Be patient and thorough when sucking up dirt, and don’t take too long. III. Disinfection: Use chlorine-based disinfectants (such as trichloroisocyanuric acid and dichloroisocyanuric acid) to disinfect the pool water, maintaining a residual chlorine level of 0.3 to 0.5 milligrams per liter; regularly measure the residual chlorine level in the pool water. It should be noted that the dosage of the medication must be followed as indicated in the instructions; do not adjust the dose on your own. IV. Medication precautions: Adjusting pH value. PH regulators generally include sodium hydroxide (alkali tablets) and salts of acids. The pool water is supplied by tap water, with a pH level generally ranging from 6.5 to 8.5; there is no need to adjust the pH value. A low pH value causes sodium carbonate and sodium hydroxide to increase the alkalinity of the pool water. When the pH level of the water is high, above 8.2, an appropriate amount of acid should be added. For chlorine-based disinfectants, when the water temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius and the water turns green, increase the dosage appropriately. Note: In the use of algaecide drugs, it is generally not recommended to employ algaecides; instead, increasing the concentration of chlorine-based disinfectants on a regular basis is usually used to eliminate algae.
