What is the sublimation temperature of elemental sulfur?
The solidification temperature of sulfur is generally taken as 121 degrees, the highest value.
What is the process, and how is the element reduced?
Please note that the safety valves in conventional sulfur recovery units are prone to being clogged by sulfur, especially during winters in the northern regions. Under conditions of safe pressure release, the low temperatures cause sulfur to solidify within the pipes, preventing excessive pressure from being released – which is very dangerous! Measures to prevent sulfur from solidifying during pressure release must be considered during the design phase!
