To ensure the safety of crane operations, it is necessary to replace crane tracks that have reached the end of their useful life in a timely manner. Moreover, when replacing crane tracks, attention should be paid to the application of certain techniques. Typically, crane tracks consist of two steel rails, but for cranes with heavy loads, multiple rails can also be used. Track cranes mainly rely on tracks to move, which ensures that the crane travels along a predetermined path. The most commonly used types of rails at present include ordinary railway rails, rails designed for cranes, as well as rails with square or rectangular cross-sections. When replacing rails in cranes, it is necessary to choose the appropriate type of rail based on the crane’s purpose and type. Compared to other types of rails, special crane rails have a better contact condition with the wheels and can withstand greater loads; therefore, they are more suitable for use in the tracks of bridge cranes, while conventional floor cranes are better suited for ordinary railway rails. Furthermore, parameters such as the straightness of the track, the gauge, and the height difference between the two rail surfaces are very important for the operating performance of the crane; the installation of the tracks requires careful planning. To facilitate adjustment and replacement between the track and the foundation, detachable connections such as bolts should be used as much as possible when installing the track.
