A truck crane leg is a foldable and retractable support structure, available in both manual and hydraulic control types. The common hydraulic leg types include the following: 1. Frog leg. Its movable legs are hinged to the fixed legs, and the hydraulic cylinder is used to carry out the unfolding action. 2. H-type leg. It is highly suitable for working in narrow alleyways and is the best choice for small cranes. 3. X-type legs. The deployment of the legs forms an X shape; when the amplitude is small, there is more space for the load to move compared to H-shaped legs. 4. Radial legs. During operation, the 4 legs extend radially outward from under the bowl-shaped frame of the chassis. Its feature is good stability, as it reduces the center of gravity of the entire machine and protects the crane’s chassis. 5. Swing legs. These legs can swing to a position perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the frame; when the crane is not in use, they can also be fixed parallel to both sides of the frame. The legs have a significant impact on the supporting span of a crane during operation; therefore, it is necessary to be familiar with the characteristics of the crane’s legs, select the appropriate type of legs, and thereby improve the crane’s lifting capabilities.
