COD issue in purified water

Our stripping unit uses a single-tower pressurized stripping with side-line extraction process. The top temperature of the tower is controlled at 40–50 degrees, the pressure at 0.48 MPa, and the bottom temperature at 160–162 degrees. The analysis of hydrogen sulfide, ammonia nitrogen, oil content in the water, and pH value in the purified water shows normal values; however, the COD level is too high, around 3000. I would like to ask fellow experts: what is the COD level of your purified water? Are there any effective ways to address this high COD level?
For over 20 years, the COD of the water purified by our stripping process has remained around 2000, whether there was a side stream in the past or not now.
The COD emissions here are no higher than 150
Check whether the COD is high due to phenols in the purified water, and what the color of the water is
I remember when I was working on stripping, it seemed like the control value was around 2000
The COD stripping tower cannot handle it – is the COD level already high in the acidic water that enters the tower? It’s fine to send it to the wastewater treatment plant; in the worst case, the plant can just use more bacteria there
