Taking the local refineries in Shandong as an example, the gross profit of MTBE plants this week was 311 yuan per ton (the calculation takes into account a mixture of C4 hydrocarbons with 15% isobutylene content and methanol, with certain processing costs deducted); this figure represents a significant drop of 628 yuan per ton compared to the period before the holidays. The price of the mixed C4 hydrocarbons remained relatively stable this week. However, since MTBE manufacturers had rushed to sell their stock before the holidays, and demand from downstream users was lower than expected, these manufacturers resorted to price cuts as a marketing strategy, which led to a noticeable decline in the profits of the MTBE production plants； As the holiday period comes to an end, MTBE prices have stopped falling and started to rise, resulting in a significant improvement in the profits of MTBE production facilities. Regarding the isomerization units, taking the Shandong region as an example, the gross profit per ton for these units this week was -151 yuan/ton, a decrease of 22 yuan/ton compared to the period before the holiday. Although the price of MTBE has resumed rising after a decline, the price of C4 compounds following ether production has also increased significantly; overall, isomerization units remain in a loss-making state.
