Weekly topic for the methanol section: We hope that all members will actively participate, offer valuable suggestions, and speak up enthusiastically. The purpose of this activity is to leverage the expertise of everyone involved, thereby improving knowledge levels throughout the process of answering questions, expanding everyone’s knowledge base, helping those who have forgotten to recall information, and fostering further discussion on controversial topics – so that we can all make progress together. We look forward to active participation from everyone. Methanol: Weekly Topic – What to do if the company demands reduced consumption? As temperatures drop and the consumption of distillation steam increases, the workshop conducts team evaluations – so what can be done to reduce this consumption? 2015.10.11--10.17
Lower temperatures increase steam consumption, but if the tower top is condensed using air coolers, the number of air coolers in operation can be reduced, thereby saving energy.
Temperature drops; Steam consumption has increased ; However, the amount of circulating cooling water used has decreased ; Because the temperature is low ; circulator ; The work done by the compressor has increased ; Reducing power consumption can also lead to lower expenses
Reducing energy consumption in synthetic systems can be considered from the following aspects: 1) Reducing the content of inert gases in the process gas; --The compression work and cycle work of inert gases are unnecessary wastes. If the previous process cannot resolve the issue, reasonable venting is used to balance the inert gas content. 2) Reducing the methanol content in the recycle gas – Since the recycle gas contains a certain amount of methanol, its synthesis efficiency is inevitably limited by the equilibrium concentration; water cooling temperature and the efficiency of alcohol separation are both factors that play a role here. 3) Improving heat transfer efficiency within the synthesis tower–heat exchange tube distribution, heat transfer efficiency, catalyst bed temperature, and temperature gradient of hot water. 4) CO2 content in the process gas – The synthesis reaction of CO2 produces water, which affects the quality of crude methanol; this water must be removed through distillation. CO2 is also an essential protector for the catalyst.
