There is a safety valve at the inlet of the hydrogen feed pump of this unit – what is its purpose? Under what circumstances will it jump?
The specific details are unclear; we don’t know what type of pump it is. In our systems, when pressure builds up at the outlet, the safety valve activates to protect the pump.

Personally, I think it is designed to prevent unexpected pump shutdowns and to protect the inlet side in case the outlet check valve fails, thereby avoiding backpressure; however, a regular check valve is usually sufficient, so it doesn’t seem all that necessary

I’ve really never seen a pump inlet with a safety valve; we use a check valve on the outlet side. Could you send some pictures for reference?
I’ve never encountered a situation where a safety valve is installed on the inlet pipeline; safety valves are used on the outlet pipelines of reciprocating pumps. Check valves are also installed at the pump outlets to prevent backflow!
