Can ordinary gate valves be used for fire foam lines?

The company’s fire foam pipelines in the tank area and on top of the towers are equipped with ball valves; however, over time it becomes difficult to operate these valves, and a lever is needed to open and close them. Can the ball valve be directly replaced with a regular gate valve?
Ball valves are generally quick-opening valves, which facilitate opening and closing and reduce the time required for such operations; switching to gate valves would increase the time needed for opening and closing. It is advisable to maintain the ball valve – switching to a gate valve is not recommended.
It probably won’t work; fire valves require quick opening, whereas gate valves take longer to open and thus cannot fulfill the need for rapid operation.
