Hello, experts in water treatment. I’m a senior student with no work experience, so I’d like to ask you guys for some advice. Recently, I saw on a website that there were some issues with their flocculation and sedimentation tanks; PAC was being used, but no mixing device was installed in those tanks. I’m wondering whether installing a mixing device would improve the results – would it lead to a significant enhancement in the flocculation effect? At the same time, I also want to ask that if a mixing device is to be added, could it be equipped with a pipe that extends to the bottom of the tank to facilitate mixing in a manner similar to aeration? I think using a mixer might result in too high costs~~~

For a simple coagulation tank, your consideration is correct. Stirring is definitely necessary. Stirring methods: hydraulic stirring, mechanical stirring, aeration stirring. Just do it in the most cost-effective way possible, provided that calculations are made. The mixing cost depends on the amount of water. This is my personal opinion for reference only.
