Dear experts and teachers, it has become inevitable to use alkaline solutions for desulfurization through alkaline washing. I am not very familiar with the processes for dealing with these waste alkaline solutions. Recently, the companies we work with for hazardous waste treatment have been experiencing problems and are frequently inspected, which puts pressure on our production activities. I would like to ask for your advice – are there any good methods for handling these alkaline solutions, such as using small-scale equipment for internal treatment? The volume of waste I generate is not large, less than 100 tons per year. Everyone is encouraged to participate actively, by offering suggestions or recommending qualified manufacturers (in Cangzhou, Hebei) that can handle this task.
It is usually classified as solid waste; dealing with it is quite troublesome, and the costs are also relatively high.
Don’t you have any wastewater treatment system? Use it directly as waste alkaline solution to neutralize acidic wastewater. However, the levels of sulfate and sodium ions in the neutralized water may exceed the limits.
Alkali wash desulfurization waste liquid can be treated through concentration-crystallization. Ideally, by removing hydrogen sulfide, the waste alkali can be concentrated and crystallized to separate sodium sulfide and sodium hydrosulfide, which are easier to sell. To design a specific treatment process, the following information is required: What are the components of the waste alkaline solution? What are the concentrations of each component? How much waste alkaline solution is produced per day? Is the spent alkali solution generated continuously or intermittently?
We use waste alkali in our own production processes; we are not a pollution treatment company. A higher alkali content is required; ideally, it should be over 10%, otherwise it’s not very cost-effective. The spent alkali should be free of mechanical impurities and clear. The organic substances contained in the spent alkali do not affect our use. The monthly consumption is over a thousand tons; it’s not clear at the moment whether laws and regulations permit such purchases, or what alternative solutions might exist.
