If you’re referring to the air intake circuit of a cylinder, a pneumatic triple unit is usually installed; I’m not familiar with anything else in that regard
Hand valves must of course be installed on the air lines. In front of or behind the process valve, we have some equipped with manual valves and some without. Some manual valves are not necessarily designed for use with solenoid valves; they may simply be inlet valves for the equipment, or shut-off valves at the boundaries of the installation. It depends on whether you are worried about internal leakage.
It is necessary to add one, as solenoid valves often fail and get damaged in engineering applications; installing a manual valve makes it easier to replace the solenoid valve
Is a hand valve a manual process valve? We install ball valves at both the beginning and the end; for processes that cannot be stopped, we also add a bypass line to facilitate replacement in case of failures. But it is said that foreign countries have confidence in their own valves and do not use bypasses; this remains to be verified
In front of the solenoid valve, not only should a manual valve be installed, but also a bypass line is generally required to facilitate use in case of a solenoid valve failure or when the system needs to be disconnected!
