How to determine whether a flame arrester for a medium should be of the blast-proof type or the fireproof type? Is the price difference between the two significant? Where can I find the flame propagation speed of a medium?
Should a flame arrester be of the explosion-proof blast type or the explosion-proof ignition type? Refer to SH 3413 \"Selection, Inspection, and Acceptance of Flame Arresters for Petrochemical and Oil Pipeline Systems\"
The key issue is that the flame propagation speed of the medium cannot be determined; so how is this problem actually resolved during the design process? By experience?
I don’t know where to find the flame propagation speed either; choosing which one to use is based on experience.
