What are the precautions when using an activated carbon filter?
Pay attention to the inlet and outlet pressures to prevent failure to regenerate.
1. Oil suction coarse filter at the pump inlet; 2. High-pressure oil filter on the pump outlet oil line ; 3. Low-pressure oil filter on the system return oil line ; 4. A bypass filtration system installed outside the system. 5. Since the adsorption capacity of the activated carbon in the activated carbon filter has a certain saturation level, once this saturated adsorption capacity is reached, the adsorption ability of the activated carbon filter will **decrease**. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the adsorption capacity of the activated carbon, replace it in a timely manner, or restore its functionality by disinfection using high-pressure steam. It is worth noting that in the early stages of using activated carbon (or at the beginning of operation after it has been replaced), a small amount of extremely fine powdered activated carbon may enter the reverse osmosis system along with the water flow, causing blockages in the flow channels of the reverse osmosis membranes. This leads to an increase in operating pressure, a decrease in water production, and an increase in system pressure drop; moreover, such damage is difficult to resolve using conventional cleaning methods. Therefore, the activated carbon must be thoroughly rinsed to remove fine particles before the filtered water can be sent to the subsequent RO system.
If it is to be used on an RO membrane, a precision filter needs to be installed after the activated carbon filter.
