The material of the extended compensation wire is basically the same as that of the thermocouple wire, and it is commonly used in inexpensive metal thermocouples such as K-type and E-type. The material used for compensation wires differs from that of the thermocouple wire, and it is often used in thermocouples made of precious metals such as R-type, B-type, and S-type.
Thermocouple extension compensation wires are made of the same material as the thermocouples, and are used for base-metal thermocouples. Compensation wires of the thermocouple-compensation type are made from materials that exhibit T-E characteristics very similar to those of thermocouples within a certain temperature range. It is mainly used for thermocouple temperature measurement of precious metals.
