Dear experts: In air separation units, the capacity is referred to as the oxygen production volume, for example 48,000 Nm3/h. Does this value represent an average over 24 hours or the value per hour? Is there anything special about this?
The value per hour; under normal circumstances, once the operating conditions stabilize, the flow rate does not vary much. So the value per hour isn’t very different from the average value.
The oxygen production level generally does not vary much; this value is the one displayed on your DCS control screen. It is calculated through a weighted average of the instantaneous values from flow meters, and the statistics are provided on an hourly basis!
