Reapplying building coatings makes old buildings more attractive. Currently, the use of building coatings in China is increasing rapidly, with their adoption rate rising steadily. As the national economic level improves, people’s demands for building decoration also increase. In addition to having functions such as waterproofing, insulation, and safety to meet basic needs, buildings are more importantly capable of beautifying the urban environment. Renovating walls by repainting them with Repem paint makes buildings more attractive. Due to reasons such as poor design, inappropriate material selection, faulty construction, lack of maintenance, sunlight exposure, biological corrosion, chemical corrosion, and mechanical impact, various types of damage can occur on the exterior surface of buildings. These include cracks and fissures, leaks, dirt, discoloration, efflorescence, peeling, mold growth, rusted rebar, damaged mosaic tiles, and local loosening or falling off of tiles. Therefore, building coatings play an important role in the renovation of the exterior surfaces of old buildings. Given the current situation, some cities in China have issued regulations requiring regular maintenance and renovation of building exteriors. From a technical perspective, the renovation of old walls requires following these steps: 1. Analyze and test the problems existing in the walls. Identifying the causes of these problems accurately can improve work efficiency, enable prompt formulation of appropriate solutions, and prevent delays and waste of materials. 2. The surface preparation for common defects on old coating surfaces includes: wall contamination, peeling of the coating, delamination, cracks, and rusting of rebar ; Common defects found on old tiles and mosaic surfaces include water seepage, delamination, and peeling. These defects must be thoroughly addressed before any renovation work on the old walls can proceed; therefore, proper preparation of the underlying surface is very important. 3. After the construction base of the wall surface is prepared, the final coating application can be carried out. The workers must follow the construction procedures, design plans, and properties of the coatings carefully when carrying out the renovation of old buildings. Building coatings are used in various types of buildings because they are easy to apply, come in a wide range of soft colors, have smooth and clear lines, allow for the creation of multiple texture effects, and are easy to repair and update. Therefore, renovating the building and repainting it with new coatings is the best option.
