Dear seniors, I would like to ask for some advice regarding pump selection. The media mainly involve vegetable oils and methanol; there are three types of vegetable oils at normal temperature, 120 degrees, and 270 degrees, while methanol pumps operate at normal temperature. I want to know which type of pump to choose? I’d like to thank everyone here!
Our company’s methanol pumps are of the IS125-80-160AG model, while those used for transferring methanol are of the IS80*65-125 model
The Sulzer ZE series high-temperature pumps can be used
Conventional chemical pumps with an angle of 120 degrees or less will suffice; for 270 degrees, choose the ZE or AY series.
For methanol, it is recommended to use magnetic pumps, as they do not leak. For the CQB series, high-temperature magnetic pumps can be chosen for temperatures over 120 degrees
When selecting a pump, in addition to the medium and temperature, the flow rate, head, and operating conditions also need to be provided. For methanol pumps used in continuous production, it is recommended to use magnetic pumps or shielded pumps to ensure no leakage. Plant oils should be non-toxic; for low flow rates, rotary pumps or diaphragm pumps can be considered, while high-temperature centrifugal pumps are suitable for high temperatures.
For vegetable oils, a gear pump can be used; for methanol, either a canned motor pump or a magnetic drive pump will work~~ Just provide the manufacturer with your process parameters~~
For vegetable oil, either a centrifugal pump or a screw pump can be used; for methanol, magnetic pumps or shielded pumps are generally preferred
Personally, I would recommend using a centrifugal pump with a bellows mechanical seal; there should be no problems with that
For high-temperature oils, use a heat oil pump. A magnetic pump should be used for methanol. For plant oils at room temperature, either gear pumps or diaphragm pumps can be used
There are many options mentioned above, but the most important factor is the specific operating conditions – flow rate, pressure, material, motor parameters, and various other factors. Only by taking these into account can a more appropriate pump be selected
