Heat treatment issues for socket splice fillet welds

The welds of the existing pipe section are socket weld joints, with the pipe size being 1 inch. According to the drawings, heat treatment is required (mainly due to the fact that the medium is alkaline, which can cause stress corrosion). Is it possible to omit heat treatment? Will skipping heat treatment affect the properties of the welds?
First of all, it depends on what material it is. . . . Meet the requirements of the design drawings. .
The material is carbon steel! The drawing requires PWHT.
For safety’s sake, it doesn’t cost much – do it; it’ll solve the problem once and for all and save you from worrying every day.
The drawings require post-weld heat treatment. . There is no place to escape from this. .
As mentioned above, it’s an alkaline solution on the medium layer, and stress corrosion occurs; in such cases, heat treatment should be carried out following the guidelines for similar situations. It’s a very simple matter – so why is the original poster so troubled by this?
