Why won’t the pump in our alkylation acid-base neutralization tank reach its proper flow rate? It’s been under repair for two days now, and there’s a black, sticky substance at the bottom – what’s going on and what should we do?
It crystallized when it got cold; just stir it with steam and it’ll be fine
Under no circumstances follow the steps mentioned above, as it can lead to problems, including hydrocarbon explosions. Our company has also encountered this issue; it’s the oily substances in the neutralization tank that form acidic sludge. During the operation, the liquid level wasn’t properly controlled; hot return water was slowly poured in to raise the temperature, and then the mixture was sent to the wastewater treatment system. It’s likely that the COD level will still not meet the requirements, so be careful!
Oh, thanks for the reminder; there might be sulfates, along with salts formed by the neutralization of acids and bases.
Do not discharge the alkaline solution inside; instead, direct it to the sewage collection tank. It’s fine to use just an acid tank
In our neutralization tank, acids and bases are added to it; the intense reactions that take place there are quite spectacular
It’s best to separate them and neutralize them in a place where it’s convenient to work
